LAB-the Rooting Project

The rooting project is a kit of material in which both physical and theoretical lessons can be given about connecting with our authentic selves, the healthy ego and being able to expand our quality of life, with the body as a grounding tool and honest entrance.

The rooting project is a kit of material in which both physical and theoretical lessons can be given about connecting with our authentic selves, the healthy ego and being able to expand our quality of life, with the body as a grounding tool and honest entrance.

A life full of quality of life with a clear guide of having yourself, is finer and healthier for our nervous system. It is a sustainable story to work on your grounding and contact with yourself.

Your body in connection with your intuition, your heart and head (healthy ego) offers you this daily knowledge about yourself. For instance, it makes it easier for you to make choices as a person or artist. It lets you create and live from flow, and not from sheer survival.

Physical component: Physical awareness and flow

  • Learning to listen to your body’s feedback, as well as the noise of your ego.
  • Mindfulness and meditation.
  • Improvisation: learning to move from the needs of your body, learning to let go of the image of what ‘should be’.
  • Various breathing techniques with grounding as a goal.
  • Projecting an intention in space.
  • Contemporary dance, ground work.
  • Spatially sensitive movement.

Theoretical section: integrative psychology – tools in resilience (for artists or not)

  • Learning to listen to your body’s feedback, but also to the noise of your ego.
  • The power of our inner critic on our quality of life.
  • The state of flow.
  • The importance of a healthy functioning nervous system (and the effect on you as an artist)
  • Experiencing boundaries, giving meaning and being able to act accordingly.
  • Energy and emotion regulation: the different layers of emotions.
  • Different types of consciousness in different personalities.

Olivia graduated from the Antwerp Conservatory of Music in 2016 as a professional contemporary dancer and teacher. She has since also been associated with the Antwerp Conservatory of Music as a teacher of physical awareness and lecturer of the prevention programme Resilient Artists. Building blocks in her work are flow, authenticity, improvisation, breathing and alignment.

In 2022, she obtained her postgraduate degree in psychotherapy and explored deeper into the field of integrative and client-centred psychology. She guides people in her practice as an integrative psychotherapist to live from that same alignment and grounding.
